An armed attack took place in a shopping center in Nakon Ratsashima area of Thailand with the first information talking about dead and wounded.
At least 12 people were killed and several others were injured when gunfire erupted from a soldier who opened fire amok.
"The soldier used an automatic weapon and shot innocent victims, injuring or killing many," said a police spokesman.
Local media reported at least 12 dead, with several seriously injured.
According to police, the soldier stole a vehicle from his camp before launching the attack on the mall.
An area with a radius of 2 km around the site of the massacre has been excluded.
The perpetrator remains unarrested.
