Secret wedding for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson

The British Prime Minister married his partner Carrie Simmonds on Saturday morning in a secret ceremony according to the British media.

The news is also broadcast by the BBC, saying that the wedding took place in the presence of a few friends and relatives as cabinet members and other politicians rushed to congratulate Johnson via Twitter.

According to what had been leaked to the press, the wedding would take place 30 June, however, the 56-year-old prime minister and his 33-year-old wife got married in his cathedral Westminster, as reported by the Daily Mail. The ceremony was so secret that only 30 people were present, including close family friends.

The identities of the 30 guests are not yet known, but Stanley Johnson, Boris Johnson's father, appeared to be smiling outside the temple.

It is noted that the Boris Johnson becomes the first incumbent Prime Minister to marry Lord Liverpool, who married Mary Chester in 1822.

The wedding took place just six days after the prime minister couple sent save the date cards. All the guests were invited at the last minute and only a few church officials attended. The wedding ceremony was performed by Father Daniel Humphries. In fact, the same priest last year baptized the couple's son.
