Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today accused London of "deliberately choosing to undermine Russian-British relations" in the case of the poisoning of former Russian agent Sergei Skripal, while threatening retaliation for possible new "retaliation".

"There is no doubt that the British government has deliberately chosen to undermine Russian-British relations," Lavrov said in Tokyo after meeting with his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono.

"If this trend continues in the form of new anti-Russian initiatives, of course no one has abandoned the principle of retaliation."
