Chinese President Xi Jinping has told his US counterpart Donald Trump that he appreciates his willingness to resolve the North Korean issue through political means, as reported by the Chinese state media.
In a telephone conversation with Trump today, Xi expressed hope that all sides would show goodwill and avoid actions that could affect the improvement of the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
The Chinese president stressed that Beijing supports dialogue to resolve the issue.
Xi also told the US president that he hoped China and the US would resolve their differences and boost economic co-operation.
