A preliminary autopsy performed on Slobodan Praljak's body shows that the war crimes convict died of cyanide poisoning, Dutch prosecutors announced today.

Praljak drank the poison in the courtroom shortly after the announcement of his sentence and the imposition of a 20-year sentence on him, and he died a little later.

In a press release, prosecutors point out that toxicological tests show that "Praljak had high levels of potassium cyanide in his blood. "This led to a heart attack, which apparently is the probable cause of his death."
