"US relations with Russia have never been so bad, but they have improved and may become even better in the future," said US President Donald Trump tonight.
The American president said that he trusts and supports the American intelligence services.
He also said he accepted their conclusion that there was indeed Russian involvement in the pre-election period, but stressed that Moscow's actions had no effect on the outcome of the election.
He assured that his government will move more aggressively to repel any attempts to interfere in the 2018 elections for the renewal of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
"The government will act 'more aggressively' to repel any involvement in the 2018 presidential election," said President Trump.
Referring to Monday's summit in Helsinki, Trump said he had discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin the situation in the Middle East, Syria, Israel's security and Iran's nuclear ambitions.
"I hope that at some point Iran will call us and we may or may not reach a new agreement," Trump said.
