Pfizer / BioNTech will provide another 200.000.000 vaccines in the EU

Pfizer and BioNTech announced today that they have reached an agreement with the European Union to supply another 200 million doses of their disease vaccine COVID-19 in the 27 Member States. At the same time, the EU has the option to ask for another 100 million installments afterwards.

The new agreement is in addition to the 300 million tranches already committed by the EU for 2021, under the first agreement. The additional 200 million installments are expected to be delivered in 2021, with about 75 million in the second quarter.

The total installments to be delivered to the EU Member States by the end of 2021 now reach 500 million, with the option to increase to 600 million.

"We recognize that more people need to be vaccinated as soon as possible in an effort to defeat the virus and bring the pandemic under control. "We are working tirelessly to support the further availability of vaccines in Europe and elsewhere, expanding our production capacity," said Albert Burla, Pfizer CEO.

"With the new agreement with the European Union, we now expect to deliver enough doses to vaccinate at least 250 million Europeans before the end of the year," he added.
