The end of Robert Mugabe is approaching

moygkampe 1 ZIMBABWE, ROBERT MUGABE

The end of the Zimbabwean leader is approaching, although he did not announce his resignation as expected yesterday during his speech.

The ruling party ZANU-PF officially announced today to Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe his resignation from the party presidency and is expected to start his dismissal process tomorrow, as the deadline given to him to resign has expired, said Mr. .

On Sunday, ZANU-PF ousted 93-year-old Mugabe, who had led the party since 1977 and remained in power for 37 years.

The party also ousted Grace's wife a week after the military coup. The ZANU-PF Central Committee has appointed Emerson Mnangagua as its new leader.

The military officials refuse to acknowledge that the seizure of power constitutes a coup. They themselves want to give the military intervention an image of legitimacy that stems from the need to save the sick Mugabe from the group organized by his wife and who until recently held control of the government. However, the ratification of legality presupposes the cooperation of Mugabe, something that the president has realized and is trying to exploit to his advantage.
