The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is giving athletes from Russia and Belarus the opportunity to compete under a neutral flag at the Winter Paralympic Games, which start on Friday in Beijing.
The Committee gave the right to participate to the para-athletes and the para-athletes of the two under the Paralympic flag and without being included in the medal table.
According to the Commission statement, "in taking its decision, the Council was guided by the fundamental principles of the IPC, which include a commitment to political neutrality and impartiality, as well as a firm belief in the transformative power of sport".
