A video showing a police officer kissing a woman, who was to be fined for violating the coronavirus traffic ban, has caused outrage in Peru.

The video shows the policeman kissing the brunette woman on the lips, who had previously tried to persuade him not to cut her fine.

The case has been investigated by the authorities in the capital Lima and the police officer has been released on compulsory leave. The policeman was made available after a local TV station played the video as he leaned over and kissed the woman.

The woman, whose name has not been released, appears to be approaching him when he is ready to pay the fine. He seems to think about it and then changes his mind and kisses her.

The decision to go on compulsory leave until the investigation is completed was taken by the mayor of the Miraflores area in Lima. Ibero Rodriguez, head of civilian safety in the area, said: "Our mayor Luis Molina has decided to make this officer available immediately. There are many violations.

The young woman shows disrespect to the rules of social distance and he allows it. And then he takes off his mask and kisses her. "

Confirming that the police officer has not been concerned about his behavior before, he added: "This action in itself is serious and that is why it was made available."

On Tuesday, Peru announced that more than 44.000 people had lost their lives since Covid-19 from the beginning of the pandemic.
