US President Donald Trump has expressed hope that he will be able to play some golf at his private golf course in Scotland shortly before leaving for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

The security measures in the area are draconian while snipers are also involved in the operation.

"I've arrived in Scotland and will be at Trump Turnberry for two days of meetings, phone calls and, hopefully, a little golf - my basic form of exercise. The weather is great and this place is incredible! "I will go to Helsinki tomorrow for Monday's meeting with Vladimir Putin," the American leader wrote on twitter.

Meanwhile, as the US President arrived at Turnbury Golf Club, a Greenpeace activist parachuted into the hotel entrance.

However, Donald Trump walked calmly inside the building with his bodyguards.

Police said they were trying to locate the activist.

Ben Stewart, a spokesman for Greenpeace, told the BBC it was not a dangerous operation and that police had been informed of the paratrooper 10 to 15 before.

"We thought it was important for the President to see an activist"
