German Chancellor Olaf Solz today vowed to win the battle against the coronavirus pandemic, urging Germans in his first keynote address to parliament to get vaccinated, as it is the only way out of the crisis.

"I say to the people of our country, 'yes, things will get better, yes, we will win the battle against this pandemic with the utmost determination and yes, we will win this battle, we will overcome the crisis,'" Soltz said today.

He said there were no "red lines" for his government in dealing with the fourth wave of the pandemic, in which, according to experts, the relatively high percentage of unvaccinated citizens played a key role.

At the same time, he pledged to mobilize all the means of the state against a "minority" of extreme "vaccinators", after the threats against life by this movement against the prime minister of the state and after many demonstrations.

"What also exists in Germany today is a denial of reality, irrational conspiracy stories, deliberate misinformation and violent extremism," Soltz told the Bundestag, promising a response "using all the means of our democratic rule of law."
