An Iranian military plane crashed in the central province of Isfahan today, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, but the two pilots managed to get out of their positions before falling into a desert area.

"The fighter jet encountered technical problems after taking off from Sahid Babey Air Base in Isfahan for a training flight and crashed at noon near the village of Hassanabad," the Fars Air Force said in a statement.

First aid crews arrived at the scene of the crash. The pilot and co-pilot of the F-7 aircraft were taken to hospital.
