Polish President Andrei Duda has apologized to Jews persecuted by Poland during the 1968 anti-Semitic campaign.
Pointing out that "today's free and independent Poland has no responsibility", Andrei Duda addressed the Jews who were forced into exile and their families: "Forgive, please, forgive the Republic, of the Poles, then Poland".
His statement came amid rising tensions between Poland and Israel following the passage of a law criminalizing any reference to Polish responsibility and involvement in the Holocaust.
