What Petros Karagiannis says - The bet for the sequel

Satisfaction prevails in the ranks of the epidemiological team for the single-digit cases of coronavirus cases in our country in recent days. Specifically, since last Saturday, a single-digit number of cases has been recorded, a fact that brings optimism for the future.

Speaking on our website, Dr. Petros Karagiannis, a member of the epidemiological team pointed out that the reduction of cases is in the right direction as it seems that the majority of citizens comply with the measures.

Asked to comment on whether this reduction is mainly due to the fact that the Ministry of Health is immediately proceeding with the downgrading of categories in countries that have increased cases, Mr. Karagiannis pointed out that the reduced cases are a cumulative consequence of all measures taken.

In fact, as he stressed, the universal use of the mask in all enclosed spaces played a decisive role, as well as the fact that the contacts of active infections were quickly identified, as a result of which the transmission chain was broken. At the same time, he emphasized the fact that timely measures were taken in areas where there was a problem such as Limassol and the necessary solutions were given.

Finally, regarding the continuation and the fact that we are slowly entering the autumn, Mr. Karagiannis expressed the assessment that if the citizens continue to observe the measures as they will be determined, we will avoid major outbreaks until the vaccine is identified.

Category changes tomorrow

In the meantime, after a reassessment of the epidemiological picture of the various countries by the Unit for Epidemiological Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases of the Medical Services and Public Health Services, regarding the disease COVID-19, from tomorrow 5/9 there will be modifications for the following countries:

Hungary moves from Category A to Category B.
Slovakia moves from Category A to Category B.
Slovenia moves from Category A to Category B.
Liechtenstein moves from Category A to Category B.
Rwanda is moving from Category B to Category C.
Monaco is transferred from Category B to Category C.
Australia moves from Class C to Class B.

Please note that for passengers coming from Category A countries, a laboratory test certificate is not required COVID-19 but neither is self-restraint.

Passengers coming from Category B countries are required to have a laboratory test within 72 hours before departure and to have a Certificate proving a negative PCR test for the virus.

Finally, passengers from category C must undergo a molecular test for the disease COVID-19 at their own expense, 48 hours before the end of their self-restraint, which expires in 14 days. The result of the laboratory test must be sent to monada@mphs.moh.gov.cy. It is understood that the self-limitation ends on the 14th day and if the result of the repeated laboratory test is negative.
