At least 13 people were killed and 20 others injured today when a bus collided with a truck in northern Turkey, Anadolu Agency reported.

The accident happened in the early hours of the morning in the province of Korum, northeast of Ankara, when a bus from Istanbul to Tokat fell on a truck, according to the same source.

Thirteen people were killed and 20 were injured and taken to hospitals, Anadolu added.

The images broadcast by the media first show the bus burning and then the charred vehicle surrounded by the rescue teams.

Among the dead were children, according to the Dogan news agency, which added that the truck with foreign license plates was stopped on the side of the road at the time of the accident.

Emine Güngκόr, who was rescued with her baby, told Anadolu that most of the passengers on the bus were asleep at the time of the accident. "There was an explosion, all the windows were broken and the bus caught fire," he said. "Those who managed to get out were saved, the others were burned alive," he added.
