US President Donald Trump has said Russia must "prepare" for a missile launch in Syria in response to an alleged chemical attack at the weekend that killed 70 people.

"Russia is committed to shooting down all the missiles that landed in Syria. Get ready Russia, nice and new and "smart!" Are coming! "You should not be partners with an animal that kills its people with chemicals and enjoys it!", He wrote on his Twitter account.

The US President has previously promised a "strong" response.

The regime of Bashar al-Assad - which receives military support from Russia - denies being behind any chemical attack.

It is recalled that Russia vetoed the resolution submitted by the United States to conduct an investigation into the use of chemicals in Syria, during the extraordinary session of the United Nations Security Council, on Tuesday night.

Relations with Russia, the US president added, are at their worst, including during the Cold War.

"It simply came to our notice then. Russia needs to help with their economy, which is very easy to do, and we need the cooperation of all nations. Stop the gun fight? ”

Moscow's immediate response to Trump's statements through Maria Zakharova.

"Smart missiles should be aimed at terrorists, not at the legitimate government of Syria, which has spent several years fighting international terrorism on its territory."

He added that the United States may seek to undermine the inspection by chemical weapons experts who plan to investigate Syrian territory following the alleged attack that sparked a confrontation between Russia and the United States.

"Do OPCW inspectors know that smart missiles are going to destroy all evidence of the use of chemical weapons on the ground? Or is it the real plan - to cover all the evidence of this fabricated attack with clever rocket attacks so that international inspectors have no evidence to look for? ” Sakharova wondered.
