The Belgian authorities have been put on alert after a warning they received last Monday night about a car planted with explosives on a ship bound for the port of Antwerp.

The vehicle was to explode upon arrival, upon warning.

According to Belgian media, it is the ship MSC Bha-vya V, under the flag of Liberia. It is anchored in the North Sea, near Alkmaar (Netherlands). He has not yet received permission to continue to Antwerp.

A connection to a drug case cannot be ruled out.

The ship left Turkey on December 9, bound for the port of Antwerp, where it was due to arrive in the afternoon. According to the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, it docked in Hamburg (Germany), Le Havre (France) and Sines (Portugal).

According to the same source, a similar incident occurred last year, with a bomb alert on a Senegalese-flagged ship, in which a large amount of cocaine was subsequently found. The threat turned out to be part of a feud between rival drug gangs.
