The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Theresa May today appointed Dominique Raab as the new Minister for Brexit following the sudden resignation of David Davis.

"The Queen has approved the appointment of MP Dominique Raab as Minister for Exit from the European Union," according to a statement from May's office.

Ο Dominic Raab, one of the youngest generation of Conservative politicians at the age of 44, has also served as Undersecretary of Justice. For a long time he was considered by the rising executives of the ruling party.

One of the reasons that led Davis to resign yesterday is believed to be his sidelining of the negotiations and the definition of the British Brexit strategy by Downing Street.

Dominic Robbins drafted the government's proposal for future trade and customs relations with the EU, which was approved by the cabinet on Friday.

The resigned Brexit minister of the British government, David Davis, warned that the approach of Prime Minister Theresa May in the negotiations with Brussels "is not the best strategy" and creates a risk of a "bad result".

Explaining the decision to resign on BBC radio, Mr Davis said he considered the strategy decided by Theresa May "has a number of weaknesses". As he commented, "the best person to do this job is someone who really believes in it (the strategy)."

Reiterating what he said in his resignation letter, Britain's chief negotiator for Brexit until yesterday said he considered the government's proposal for a future relationship with the EU, as finalized at Friday's marathon cabinet meeting in the Checkers, not really the recovery of control over law from London.

"We concede too much, too easily and this is a dangerous game right now. "It's already beyond the point we should have gone to," Davis said.

In his resignation letter, David Davis voiced his objections to a series of decisions by the Prime Minister that "undermine" London's negotiating position. He added that the post of Brexit Minister should be "an enthusiastic supporter of the strategy and not a hesitant soldier".

Undersecretary Steven Baker followed the exit from the Brexit Ministry.
