These are the 40 electric vehicles that the government bought at a cost of €1,5 million.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works for the purposes of promoting clean road transport vehicles, to reduce greenhouse emissions and other pollutants in the atmosphere, within the context of the Recovery and Resiliency Plan, has proceeded with the supply of forty (40) electric vehicles to meet the needs of various of Ministries, Departments and Services of the public sector from Michaels Automotive Ltd. The tender announcement was made by the Electromechanical Services Department with an open bidding process, with a total purchase cost of €1.466.080,00 including VAT.

The market falls within the EU's goal of weaning off polluting fuels and reducing air pollution. It also concerns the supply of clean light vehicles, which for the Republic of Cyprus was determined to be 31,9% of all vehicle supplies through public and wider public sector contracts for the period up to December 31, 2025.

Furthermore, the Department of Electromechanical Services will proceed with the installation of appropriate charging points in the departments and services where the electric vehicles will be delivered.
