Employment in the Broad Public Sector increased by 1.255 employees in the third quarter compared to 2020

Employment in the Broad Public Sector increased by 1.255 people or 1,8% in the third quarter of 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020.

According to the Statistical Service, the total number of employees in the Broad Public Sector in the 3rd quarter of 2021 was 69.757.

In the General Government the employment amounted to 64.141 persons and in the Companies and Enterprises that are controlled by the government to 5.616.

In the General Government, which consists of the Government, the Non-Profit Organizations and the Local Authorities, the employment amounted to 52.562, 7.298 and 4.281 people respectively.

An increase was observed in the Central Government by 1.219 people (2,1%), on
Local Authorities by 172 people (4,2%) while in Companies and Enterprises Controlled by the Government there is a decrease of 136 people (-2,4%).

Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2021, employment in the Broad Public Sector decreased by 1.379 people (-1,9%).

A decrease was observed in the Central Government by 1.398 persons (-2,3%) and in the Companies and Enterprises Controlled by the Government by 58 persons (-1,0%) while an increase was observed in the Local Authorities by 77 persons (1,8%).
