According to the statement, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Soukri conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to President Anastasiadis, "praising the upgrading of relations through the Intergovernmental Meeting at the level of the two leaders. The representative of the Egyptian Foreign Minister added that Mr. Soukri's meeting with President Anastasiadis concerned a number of issues of cooperation in various fields, mainly in energy, agriculture and transport, while emphasizing the importance of cooperation in the field of electricity interconnection, in particular after the signing of the relevant memorandum of understanding in October 2021 as well as the tripartite memorandum of cooperation between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece for the electrical interconnection.
Also stressed by Cairo, Egyptian Minister Sameh Soukri stressed the importance of the role of the Eastern Mediterranean Forum on Natural Gas in strengthening regional energy cooperation in the region.
At the same time, the Egyptian Foreign Minister congratulated Cyprus on the imminent assumption of the rotating presidency of the Forum for the year 2022.
According to the announcement of the Egyptian Foreign Minister, President Anastasiadis asked the Egyptian Foreign Minister to convey his greetings to the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, emphasizing the great interest of Cyprus in strengthening the cooperation with Egypt in various fields. in the activation of the proposed projects and the search for new horizons of cooperation in the light of the close relations and the partnership that unites the two countries.
