The suspension of the examination of asylum applications in all cases of persons of Syrian origin has been announced by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis.
In a post on social media, the PtD states that "due to the recent mass arrival of Syrian political asylum seekers by sea, and pending developments on the issue of the re-evaluation of the Syrian regime, the examination of asylum applications is suspended in all the cases of persons of Syrian origin".
