The Mayor of Deryneia and member of the Committee Andros Karagiannis requested the support of Culture from the 142nd Plenary Session of the European Committee of the Regions (EETP).
A statement from the Municipality states that Mr. Karagiannis noted "the need to support the people of Culture, in his intervention during the 142nd Plenary Session held through a teleconference from 3-5 February 2021".
Specifically, Mr. Karagiannis told the competent European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel that "we must support the people of Culture by planning and organizing cultural events that will revive the fallen morale of the citizens and , showcasing their work and creations ".
He added that "culture is part of our lives and without it we are poorer in education, training and learning."
The Mayor of Deryneia "sent, at the invitation of the President of EETP Apostolos Tzitzikostas to the members of EETP, two serious issues concerning the local authorities of the European Union and need to be discussed and managed, namely the increase in domestic violence and the need to support small and medium-sized enterprises ".
