At Noon and Something was hosted Dr. Michalis Voniatis, who spoke about the epidemiological picture of the country, but also about the upcoming relaxations.

He initially said the situation was at an all-time high. "We have a stable situation for the last ten days, but there will be more hospitalizations. "So far, hospital admissions have increased by 50."

He added that the average age has dropped in those who are hospitalized and this demonstrates the operation of the vaccination program. "The virus is circulating and there is a possibility of mutations or the introduction of new mutations."

Dr. Voniatis mentioned two possible scenarios. "Either we will go with this data or the cases will be launched as a result of a new lockdown." As for the upcoming relaxations, he said that this will depend on the data that will be available. "If the picture is today, it will be okay to open the restaurant, but if the cases are launched, I do not think we will be able to move on to the next stage of relaxation."

He then spoke about the schools, stressing that good work is being done as teachers and students are being monitored. "It will depend on the number of cases until March 15."

He pointed out that it is not certain that 70% of the population will be vaccinated by June. "Now we are talking about 40% of the population and it is something that does not help to return to normalcy in the summer."

Finally, he stated that the controls should be continued at the airports, so that the situation does not escape.
