Increasing trend in the weekly positive rate, burden on hospitals and increase in ICUs, very high value in the cumulative impact in Limassol and average age of cases at 37 years, while hospitalized under 60 years are the key data recorded by National Report until March 9 released today.

today, accounting for 60% of all deaths.

Specifically, the National Report shows that the weekly percentage of positivity shows an increasing trend. In the District of Limassol the percentage of positivity is over 1%.

On the positive side, the weekly positiveness rate in nursing homes below 0,1% has been maintained for a month now.

There is a clear upward trend in all indicators. The cumulative impact of 14 days throughout Cyprus is at 397,3 / 100,000 recording a significant increase in the last 3 weeks (February 26: 168,7 / 100,000 and March 5: 263,5 / 100,000).

In the District of Limassol there is a very high value in the cumulative impact of the pandemic in the country that reaches 923,1 / 100,000. Of the 3,528 cases detected between February 24 and March 9, 2,292 were in the Limassol District (65%).

Regarding the situation in the hospitals, from the hospital indicators it is clear that there is a burden in the hospitals, with a significant increase in the mobile average of admissions and patients, while the increase in the ICU is beginning to show. From the data it seems that Limassol is the main source of hospitalizations, while there is a small increase in the imports of people from Nicosia.

Regarding the ages, the average age of the cases is 37 years, while in relation to the hospitalizations, the burden seems to be in the people under 60 years. Ages> 75 are not affected.

As of March 9, 2021, 36.786 cases have been diagnosed in the Republic of Cyprus COVID-19, with 236 deaths due COVID-19 (mortality COVID-19: 0,6%).

On March 11, 171 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized (based on registered data). Their median age was 65 years.
The data show that 22 people were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - 18 were intubated. The median age of patients COVID-19 in the ICU was 68 years old and a total of 18 people (85,7%) in the ICU had underlying diseases.

In the last 14 days, 39.725 molecular tests (PCR) (4.473,5 per 100.000 population) and 522.215 antigen rapid tests (58.808 per 100.000 population) have been performed.

Among 3.528 cases COVID-19 diagnosed as of February 24, 2021, 53,1% concern women (n = 1.875) and 46,7% men (n = 1.646) and for 7 cases (0,2%) the information was not available .

By age groups: 717 infants, children and adolescents 0-19 years (20,3%), 2.250 adults aged 20-59 years (63,8%), 557 people aged 60 years and over (15,8%), while for 4 people (0,1%) their age is not available at the moment.

Among the cases diagnosed in the last 14 days, 2.292 (65%) had a place of residence in the province of Limassol, 742 (21%) in the province of Nicosia, 224 (6,4%) in the province of Larnaca, 158 (4,5%) in Paphos province, 59 (1,7%) in the province of free Famagusta and 53 cases (1,5%) concern British bases or residence in the area or no information was available for them (Table A1). Graph A2 in the appendix shows the distribution of incidents by province.

In the last 14 days (February 24 - March 9), out of the 3.528 recorded confirmed cases, 1% (n = 35) related to cases with a recent travel history, while 99% (n = 3.493) related to domestic broadcasts.

Based on the recorded data, among the individuals diagnosed with COVID-19, were declared, as of March 11, 2021, 288 deaths from any cause (mortality from any cause on the diagnosed cases COVID-19: 0,8%). Mortality (deaths from any cause in people with COVID-19 per 100.000 population) is 32,4.

There were 194 deaths in men (67,4%) and 94 in women (32,6%). The median age of people with COVID-19 who lost their lives were 81 years (Intra-Quarter range: 73-87 years). In the province of Limassol 93 (32,3%) deaths were reported, 90 (31,2%) in the province of Nicosia, 52 (18,1%) in the province of Larnaca, 24 (8,3%) in the province of Paphos, 17 (5,9, 12%) in the province of free Famagusta and 4,2 deaths (XNUMX%) concern British bases or resettlement or no information was available.

By March 11, 2021, 87,4% (n = 31.916) of cases COVID-19 have been released / recovered.

Death Report until 11/03/2021 (with data analysis period March 2020 to March 2021)

In terms of deaths, published data show that as of March 11, 2021, 288 deaths have been reported, diagnosed with COVID-19. 67% are men (194 deaths) and the remaining 33% are women
(ν = 94 deaths).

Of the 288 deaths, 236 (82%) had an underlying cause of the disease COVID-19. 66% of the total number of deaths due to the underlying disease COVID-19, concerns men (156 deaths) and the remaining 34% concerns women (80 deaths).

The highest frequency of deaths occurs in the age group 80-84 years (23% of the total number of deaths, 67).
During the months of December 2020 and January 2021, the highest number of deaths of people positive for the disease has been recorded. COVID-19, from the beginning of the pandemic until today, with the percentage reaching 60% of the total number of deaths (85 and 86 deaths respectively).

From 1/3 / 2021-11 / 3/2021 6 deaths have been recorded, of which 5 concern deaths with underlying cause of the disease COVID-19 and 83% had Limassol District as their permanent residence.

The highest rate of death of people positive for the disease COVID-19, with the underlying cause of death the disease COVID-19, concerns people with permanent residence in the District of Nicosia (85, 36%) and then the District of Limassol (73, 31%).
