More than 80 Cypriot antiquities are being repatriated from the United States of America (USA). For this purpose, a ceremony was held in Washington, in the presence of the Director of the Department of Antiquities, Dr. Marina Solomidou-Ieronymidou.

The Ambassador of Cyprus to the USA, Marios Lysiotis, stated that he is happy to see the cooperation of the US authorities (HSI – Department of Homeland Security Investigations, FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation, and CBP – Department of Customs and Border Protection) for the protection of cultural heritage of Cyprus.

HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) Deputy Assistant Director of International Operations, Ricardo Mayoral, stated that he is honored to return a valuable piece of cultural property to the people of Cyprus.

"We are returning an Iron Age jug of Oinochoa from 800 to 600 BC. Some time ago we also had the pleasure of returning two rare ancient Cypriot coins, one of which dates back to 385 BC. as well as an 18th century fresco," he said.

In a post by the Embassy of Cyprus in Washington on Twitter, it is stated that they welcomed in Washington the Director of the Department of Antiquities, Dr. Marina Solomidou-Ieronymidou, and how a repatriation ceremony was held for more than 80 Cypriot antiquities.

Satisfaction is also expressed for the cooperation with the US authorities (HSI, FBI, CBP) for the protection of cultural heritage.
