The rains that fell in the last 24 hours in Cyprus were of extremely good quality, as stated by the Director of the Meteorological Department, Kleanthis Nikolaidis.

Speaking on SIGMA's show "Mesimeri kai Kati", he said that the rains that occurred in December compared to the years 1961-1990 reached 188%, while compared to the years 1981-2010 are at lower levels due to the impact of climate change.

The first 10 days of January gave extremely good rains, he added.

From the 1st of January, the highest amount of rain was recorded at the station of Panagia Paphos, with 11 mm.

The rains that fell in the last 24 hours were mild and continuous with the result being good in the flows in the dams, he noted.
