G. Komodromos: 5G has not arrived, nor has it even been licensed

5G, antennas, mobile telephony

For improvement or maintenance in some areas of the antennas of the mobile telephony networks, there is some work on antennas and it does not exist in Cyprus, nor is it planned to install antennas of 5G networks in the next period, explain to "F" senior executives of mobile networks telephony, but also the person directly responsible for the licensing and control of networks.

As the head of the Department of Electronic Communications, George Komodromos, points out in "F", so far in Cyprus the new radio frequencies for 5G have not been licensed and therefore it is misinformation that 5G stations are currently operating in Cyprus.

Any work observed, he explains, concerns existing technologies (2G, 3G, 4G) in order for the telecommunications infrastructure of Cyprus to meet, in a satisfactory and quality way, the needs of the citizens and the wider society.

For his part, the CEO of Cyta, in a post on social media (twitter) states characteristically: "In difficult times, the endurance of all of us is tested. Connecting # Covid_19 to 5G is irresponsible and dangerous. The same goes for seeing 5G antennas everywhere in a country that has not yet licensed 5G. "The virus will not go away by chasing ghosts."

Note that one of the issues that obviously raises suspicion is the fact that cellular antennas are placed in virtual chimneys or other camouflage or camouflage facilities. As representatives of the mobile telephony networks explain to "F", this (concealment) is an obligation of the companies by law.

According to the legal framework, for the purposes of integration into the environment and mitigation of any perceptual disturbance, the station must "not be clearly visible from the most user-friendly areas of these uses, be color adjusted according to the prevailing colors of the building or the natural environment in which the installation will take place, or to make an organic integration of the station equipment µ in parts of the building or the base on which it will be based, and to hide the station equipment ».
