Cyprus became the 24th country in Europe to have a 5G network since last Sunday. Speaking on the show Front Page, the CYTA Spokesman, Lefteris Christou, spoke about the advantages it offers but also commented on the reactions that exist from a portion of citizens.

According to Mr. Christou, "5G is the natural evolution in mobile technology. A network that according to EU directives had to operate in all member states by 2020 ".

Regarding the advantages offered by Mr. Christou, he explained that among other things are the higher speeds, which reach 1GB. "It also allows many people to connect at the same time when we are in a crowded place and is quick to respond with almost zero delays. "This allows applications such as driverless vehicles to be created or remote surgeries to be performed," he said.

Commenting on the reactions of some citizens, Mr. Christou said that there have been reactions throughout the history of mankind. "There is a tendency for people to be afraid of the new. We must focus on the positives because we will see applications that will facilitate our daily lives. "Everything is regulated according to the instructions of the World Health Organization."

At the moment, according to Mr. Christou, the 5G network has 70% coverage and in a year it is expected to have 100% coverage.
