The Republic of Cyprus will provide electricity to the occupied territories for the next few days.

According to information from KYPE, this was requested to be done for the period 12-17 August because there was damage to a power plant in the occupied areas, as well as due to a delay in the supply of fuel for electricity generation purposes in the occupied areas of Cyprus.

According to the same information, there will be coverage of electricity needs for the whole 24 hours. Depending on the time of day, power will be provided between 20MW (after midnight and morning) and 40MW (afternoon and evening).

The Cyprus Transmission System Operator was instructed to proceed with the provision of the requested MW when and if there is availability on the part of the Republic and already based on the production planning it seems that for the afternoon and evening hours the needs of the occupied areas can be partially met.

All electricity supplied will be returned at a later stage on the basis of set-off as provided in the Confidence Building Measures.
