New complaints about what is happening in Kokkinotrimithia and the wider area, due to the increased presence of immigrants in the area, were made on Tuesday by the Mayor of Kokkinotrimithia, Christakis Meleties, who attended a meeting of the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Committee for the Study of Demographic which again discussed the issue of demographic change in Kokkinotrimithia.

During the meeting, serious incidents were reported, which according to the mayor of the area, cause indignation among the residents, who are suffering, while he stressed that the situation is deteriorating, although some state officials are trying to convince that it is getting better, saying proof".

Specifically, he stated that traffickers are stationed in Kokkinotrimithia and transport migrants to Pournara, while citing data from the Police, he noted that cocaine use increased by 5.700% and that Pournara is full of drugs.

In addition, there were reports from Mr. Meletier that more than 1.500 foreigners sleep under the trees, defecate in the countryside and throw their garbage everywhere, with the residents of the area, as he said, "to pay, to clean the dirt of the foreigners ».

He expressed the belief that "in ten years we will become a minority in Cyprus and the majority will be Muslims", noting that "if the government decides to become an African region, we do not accept it".

"To take the foreigners in the park of the President, in the parks of Limassol and not to leave them in the villages of the area. Foreigners are sleeping in the yards of the houses and every now and then the Police are called to chase them. In Poland and Hungary they install power lines and block their entry. Aren't they members of the European Union? "Representatives of the Government should go to the Congo and arrange the transfer of the foreigners and not wait from Brussels", said the Common Leader Kokkinotrimithias.

He sounded the alarm, saying that this problem would destroy them and that the Government must find immediate solutions. He also said that they would protest at the Presidential Palace and demand solutions from the President of the Republic.

The chairman of the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Committee for the Study of the Demographic Problem, Linos Papagiannis, said that "unfortunately the unanimous opinion of the community leaders of the region and those who represented the region is that the situation has not improved and in some cases is even worse."

He again called on the Government and the competent departments to realize that there are areas, which today are not considered free areas, noting that he did not say that himself, but that the Commonwealths have mentioned it.

"We must understand that there are areas that have no room to accept others, no room for our compatriots who live there. "Starting from Ayia Napa to Paphos, we lose areas every day and the state continues to whistle indifferently," he said.

He expressed the hope that in the near future some of the decisions of the Commission will be adopted, because he does not see that otherwise the problem will be solved.

DISY MP, Prodromos Alampritis, in turn welcomed the actions of the Minister of Interior in the EU Council of Interior Ministers and the declaration after the Council of Foreign Ministers, which emphasizes the need to create a burden redistribution mechanism with specific reference to Cyprus and to the increased migratory flows it is called upon to face.

He also said that since the last meeting of the Commission, some moves have been made in the right direction by the police, noting that the number of police officers at Kokkinotrimithias Station and the patrols have increased.

In addition, he said that the number of migrants living in the Center has decreased, while he added that efforts are being made by the government and the competent Minister to address the growing problem with increased migration flows.

He even said that the recruitment of 300 contractors is underway, for surveillance of the green line, but also for the installation of an electronic surveillance system.

DIPA MP, Alekos Tryfonidis, said that his party is on the front line next to and together with the residents of the area and supports their struggle for security and prosperity.

At the same time, said Mr. Tryfonidis, they have submitted a series of proposals for the creation of modern accommodation structures, which will offer decent living conditions to refugees and will provide security for minors and unaccompanied children.

At the same time, he called for the immediate activation of all mechanisms of the Republic, so that there is the necessary control of identification and immediate repatriation of all asylum seekers who do not meet the required criteria.
