CYPRUS: 11 new cases of coronavirus

Regarding the new cases of the disease COVID-19, according to the data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health, out of a total of 3,201 laboratory diagnoses, 11 cases of SARS-CoV-2 virus were detected.

Analytically, the virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

  • Out of 140 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 5 cases were identified.
  • Out of 1,178 samples taken as part of the passenger and repatriate control, 3 cases were identified.
  • From 28 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.
  • From 131 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 1 case was identified.
    Out of 839 samples taken through private initiative, 1 case was identified.

In addition, 885 laboratory diagnoses were performed from samples taken as part of the random sampling of 10,000 individuals, without case detection.

Based on the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,406.

In addition, two patients are being treated in a ward at the Famagusta General Hospital COVID-19, while a patient is hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
