The death of a male patient is announced COVID-19, aged 72 years, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia. The ultimate cause of death is attributed to the disease COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 49, 33 men (67%) and 16 women (33%), with an average age of 75 years.
In addition, the Ministry of Health informs that a total of 7,551 tests were performed today to detect the disease COVID-19.
A. Molecular Test (PCRtest): Of the 7,551 laboratory tests, 2,461 laboratory diagnoses were performed by the molecular method (PCR), with 103 cases of the disease COVID-19, which emerged as follows:
- Out of 354 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 59 cases were identified.
- Out of 404 samples taken through private initiative, 14 cases were identified.
- Out of 368 samples taken as part of the passenger and repatriate control, 2 cases were identified.
- From 244 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 16 cases were identified.
- From 222 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.
- Out of 340 samples taken in the Limassol District as part of a control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Limassol and Paphos Districts, 2 cases were identified.
- From 107 samples taken in the District of Nicosia in the context of control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 7 cases were identified.
- Out of 134 samples taken in the District of Paphos as part of the control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Districts of Limassol and Paphos, 1 case was identified.
- Out of 127 samples taken in Larnaca District as part of the control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 1 case was identified.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:
- From samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 52 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
- From samples taken as part of the laboratory testing program carried out in nursing homes and other structures, 86 laboratory tests were performed, and
- From samples taken in the Province of Famagusta in the context of control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 23 laboratory diagnoses were completed.
B. Rapid antigen detection test (antigensfasttest): Of the 7,551 tests, 5,090 were performed using the rapid antigen detection method (rapid test), with 125 positive results, which were identified as follows:

In addition, the positive result was verified by the molecular test method for 79 samples of positive results detected by the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. In addition, three positive results from rapid tests were not verified by the molecular method. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by PCR are included in the total number of cases below.
Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 10,565.
