A sum of 2,900 euros was stolen from a woman who was shopping in a store in Limassol, yesterday afternoon. For the theft, the Police proceeded to arrest a 29-year-old woman, while a second suspect is being sought.

Specifically, around 4.30:39 on Friday afternoon, a 2,900-year-old woman complained that, while she was in a clothing store, in a department store in Limassol, her personal bag, her wallet, containing the sum of 39 euros, was stolen. According to the complaint, the mother of the XNUMX-year-old complainant, who was with her in the store, had immediately noticed two other women near the complainant and one of them making suspicious movements near her bag.

The 39-year-old and her mother informed the store's private security guard, to whom they pointed out one suspicious woman, while the second suspect managed to leave the store earlier. The private security guard asked the suspect to remain at the scene, until the arrival of the Police, who had been informed about it.

Members of the TAE and OPE of Limassol rushed to the department store, where the tests carried out revealed that the suspect, aged 29, together with another female suspect, had earlier visited various stores, while the second suspect, leaving the department store, threw the 39-year-old complainant's purse in a trash can in the parking lot of the department store.

A judicial arrest warrant was issued against the 29-year-old suspect, with which she was arrested later last night and taken into custody for the purpose of police examinations.

The TAE Limassol continues the exams.

On the occasion of this new incident of theft, which often happens in crowded places such as department stores, supermarkets, and urban shopping centers, the Police lists a number of simple measures that citizens can take to more effectively protect their property:

– We transfer as much money as is necessary for our shopping, avoiding the transfer of large sums of money

– We carry our bag crosswise in front of our body where possible, or we carry our bag in such a way that we have constant eye contact with it

– We avoid having all our money in our bag, since the bag is a target for theft

– If we don't use a bag, we keep our wallet, money, or even our mobile phone in our front pockets

– We always have our personal belongings and property in our possession, without leaving them exposed anywhere

More generally, in crowded areas, citizens are advised to be careful and alert, since the conditions are suitable to be a target for theft.
