A 42-year-old resident of Nicosia was arrested by the Police on Sunday, in order to facilitate the investigations into an investigated case of child sexual abuse, child sexual exploitation, wild child for sexual purposes, acquisition or possession of child pornography and child pornography.
The case was reported to the Police, by the father of a 13-year-old, according to which his son sent via the internet, to an unknown man photos and videos, in which the 13-year-old appears naked. According to the complainant, the 13-year-old in recent months, was chatting through the social networking platform with the man in question, who had been introduced to him as a photographer and asked him to send him nude photos and videos.
According to the complaint, the man in question was chatting online with a 14-year-old, from whom he also asked for and received nude photos and videos.
From the examinations carried out by members of the Office for the Fight against Cybercrime, a testimony was secured against a 42-year-old resident of Nicosia, on the basis of which an arrest warrant was issued against him.
On Sunday afternoon, the 42-year-old was arrested on a warrant and remanded in custody to facilitate investigations. A mobile phone was found in his possession, which was confiscated for judicial examination.
A search of the 42-year-old's home followed, where a computer, an external hard drive, an electronic data storage device (USB) and three memory cards were found and confiscated for testing.
The Office for Combating Cybercrime is investigating the case.
