At noon and something was hosted the professor of pathology dr. George Panos, who spoke about the long-term measures that our country must implement, but also about the possibility of mandatory vaccination.
He initially stated that Cyprus should have homogeneous measures. "It is a small country, with a small population and short distances between cities and villages." He added that one city communicates with the other, so it is only a matter of time before it happens in one place and happens elsewhere.
He stressed that "Cyprus implements measures that take us from pillar to pillar comfort and not to solution". He added that the State must conduct much more mass tests every day.
"At the moment we have to look at the long-term measures that we can implement from now on." He added that with the long-term measures we will be led to the period of vaccination with a small number of the population positive for the coronavirus.
He went on to explain the three main long-term measures that have to do with medical staff, patients and nursing homes, proposing that they be tested weekly. At the same time, he referred to the high quality work such as banks, social services, supermarkets, pharmacies and schools, explaining that they should be checked every week, but also those who enter Cyprus.
Dr. Panos also spoke about the possibility of mandatory vaccination in case of travel, explaining that in order for this to happen, the coronavirus must be classified as an infection equivalent to yellow fever, which is the only vaccine that is mandatory.
He pointed out that it should be adopted by the World Health Organization, concluding that with the current data, immediate and long-term measures should be adopted until the vaccination.
