The Legal Service appointed Criminal Investigators into the scandal

Following the initiative of the Minister of Justice and Public Order, as a result of allegations that came to his knowledge about the presence of members of the Police and/or their involvement in the case of the Monastery of St. Avvakum, a discussion took place between the Minister and Mr. Attorney General of the Republic and Assistant Attorney General of the Republic, with the aim of both the uninterrupted continuation of the criminal investigations and the objective investigation and evaluation of the various conflicting allegations put forward by those involved, which, among others, include allegations of the involvement of members of the Police and other persons.

In order to ensure the above, the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic Mr. Savvas A. Angelidis, exercising the authority granted to him by subsection (2) of article 4 of Chapter 155, decided to appoint Mr. Nino Kekko, Senior Attorney of the Republic and Giorgos Papaioannou, Attorney, as Criminal Investigators, to conduct investigations in cooperation with the Police Investigators, regarding the possible commission of any criminal offenses by any person.
