Today, the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca imposed a five-year prison sentence on a 29-year-old man, whom he found guilty after a drug-trafficking case.

The case concerned the detection of a quantity of cannabis weighing one kilogram and 729 grams, after investigations by the Police, last October 2023, in Larnaca.

Specifically, members of the Anti-Narcotics Service - YCAN, on the afternoon of October 25, stopped the 29-year-old, who was driving a car, on a rural road in the province of Larnaca. Two nylon packages were found in his possession, containing cannabis, with a combined weight of one kilogram and 600 grams.

After the 29-year-old was arrested by the members of the YKAN for self-inflicted crimes, a search was made at his residence, during which he handed over to the members of the Police ten more nylon packages of cannabis, with a total gross weight of 269 grams.

The quantity of drugs was confiscated and from the laboratory tests carried out as part of the investigation of the case, it was established that it was a quantity of cannabis weighing one kilogram and 729 grams.

Upon completion of the police investigations, the drug trafficking case was registered for immediate trial before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca.

After the Permanent Criminal Court examined the witness material collected by the Police and presented to it by the Prosecuting Authority, it found the 29-year-old guilty of the crime of possession of drugs with the intention of supplying them to other persons and sentenced him to five years in prison.

The case was investigated by the YCAN provincial branch in Larnaca.
