Early "parliamentary elections" were held yesterday in the occupied territories. In the "elections" of January 23, three developments left their mark, the high percentage of abstention, the victory of the Turkish Cypriot Right and the exclusion of the T / C movement of the Social Democrats from the new "parliament". The Turkish Cypriot political leaders in their first statements immediately after the publication of the first results, focused on these developments and sent messages about the future course of their movements.
According to information from the website of the Turkish newspaper "Yeni Duzen", on Monday morning, the counting of "votes" in a total of 763 ballots showed that in yesterday's "elections" only 57,65% of voters voted. The percentages (%) of the parties are as follows:

Based on the above results, the KEE, despite the fact that it came out first from yesterday's match, failed to secure its autonomy. So from today, its leader, Faiz Suzuoglu, will start trying to form a new "government" coalition. It is reminded that the "parliament" consists of 50 seats and for its autonomy the support of 26 "deputies" is needed.
Suzuoglu: "Economy is my priority"
In the aftermath of the results, the Turkish Cypriot political leaders made statements. Mr. Suzuoglu in his first position after the start of the counting of "votes", said that the result of the "elections" confirmed the predictions and polls that his party wanted to come out of the contest first and approach autonomy.
"It was a very difficult and fast-growing process. We had a very difficult time with the devaluation of the Turkish pound, the continuation of the pandemic, the economic contraction to 16%, the end of the year and the election bans. Stressing that on Monday or Tuesday at the latest, the KEE will take over the "mandate of forming a new government" from the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mr. Suzuoglu noted that the preparations for a "coalition government" will begin immediately in the near future. The leader of the Turkish Cypriot Right stated the following: "The country can not afford to waste time. We must form a government immediately. Possibly tomorrow we will receive the formation order and start the preparations. Our goal will be economic prosperity at the levels that our people deserve in the next 5 years. Erichurman's first message
For the result of yesterday's confrontation, the leader of RTK, Tufan Erhiurman, also stated that his party in the new period will take over the task of the "official opposition". "Examining the results, we see that the PTC should increase both the percentage and the number of its deputies by about 50%. This is the party with the largest increase in percentages and number of deputies. We will start evaluating these results from tomorrow. [Today] We see and realize that our policies, the vision we presented in general, the vision of the Turkish Cypriot people meeting the world and the vision of economic development, have received very serious support from our people. "We will be in parliament with a very strong team and we will continue to work to implement these policies starting tomorrow," the RTK leader said.
Mr. Erhiurman, answering questions from the Turkish Cypriot press, sent the message that although the ultimate goal of the RTK remains its promotion to the first place, in yesterday's match, the party's performance was remarkable. Regarding the party's work in the position of the "official opposition", Mr. Erhiurman stated that the Turkish Cypriots want to join the international scene and gain a strong socio-economic structure. "Certainly in case [the new 'government'] repeats the mistakes of the past, we will follow a tough opposition line," the RTK leader said.
The statements of the other T / C leaders
For his part, the leader of the Democratic Party, Fikri Ataoglou in his first position after hearing the first results, referred to the high abstention rate and said that the party's central body will study the result of the "elections" and the percentage received by the party. Mr. Ataoglou also stated that the DK was aiming for a higher percentage.
Regarding the result of the "elections", the leader of the KL, Kudret Ozersay, stated that despite the remarkable drop in the turnout, the two oldest and strongest parties of the Turkish Cypriot community, KEE and RTK, managed to lead the "voters". them at the "ballot box". Mr. Ozersay said the early "parliamentary elections" were held in conditions of political polarization, a development that benefited the Turkish Cypriot Right and the Turkish Cypriot Left. On the contrary, the polarization negatively affected KL who tried to follow a center line. "In the coming days, the authorized bodies of the KL will meet and discuss the future of the party," Ozersay said.
Commenting on the result of the "elections", the leader of the KA, Erhan Arikli, claimed that his party during the "pre-election" period was faced with conspiracies and that a few hours before the "elections" some circles made efforts to modify the final result. According to Mr. Arikli, under these circumstances, maintaining the percentages of the CA and increasing the number of seats could be characterized as a success. Mr. Arikli also said that the process of reorganizing the KA will begin on January 24.
Ozgit's resignation
The leader of the KKD, Cemal γιzgγιt, whose party was expelled from the new "parliament", announcing that he will hand over his resignation from the post of the president of the KKD, said that the final result is lower than , what was expected.
