The military parade of October 1, 2020 in the context of the 60th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Cyprus will send messages to many recipients. Apart from Greece, other Cypriot partners will attend the parade, proving that Cyprus is not alone in the face of Turkish provocation.

The Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos and the Chief of GEETHA Konstantinos Floros will arrive on the island.

The Minister of Defense and the Chief of GEETHA as usual will attend the established morning doxology of October 1. At the same time, the two strong men of the Greek armed forces will have contacts with the political and military leadership of the island.

At the same time in Cyprus will come the Commander of the Italian Armed Forces General Enzo Vecciarelli and the Commander of the French Forces in the Mediterranean and Black Sea Rear Admiral Laurent Isnard.

During their visit to Cyprus, they will have private meetings and a working lunch with the Minister of Defense, Charalambos Petridis, during which they will discuss the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean region and the ongoing provocative actions of Turkey within the Cyprus EEZ.

Despite the measures against the spread of the coronavirus, all the motorized and pedestrian sections selected each year will parade. However, the parade as decided will take place in the presence of only officials and not the public in order to prevent the gathering of a large number of citizens due to the pandemic. This decision was taken by the Council of Ministers on 09 September 2020.
