A retired firefighter from Britain is learning to walk again, after a serious illness he contracted while on vacation in Cyprus, specifically in the occupied territories.

According to Metro.uk, this is 66-year-old Charles Jackson, who almost became paralyzed when he became infected with E.coli and Campylobacter during a holiday in Cyprus in December.

According to the article, during the first days of the holidays with his wife in Cyprus, he suffered from diarrhea and fatigue. When he returned to the United Kingdom, as the symptoms persisted, he visited his doctor and tests showed that he had developed both Campylobacter - the most common cause of food poisoning - and E.coli.

However, according to Metro.uk, things took a dramatic turn when he became paralyzed. After visiting the hospital, he was diagnosed with Guilliain-Barre Syndrome, a rare condition that affects the nerves and causes paralysis.

After being hospitalized for 10 weeks, he is now considering legal action to get answers on how everything that happened could be prevented.

In fact, he said, "my only hope is that he might prevent others from suffering like me."
According to the publication, the lawsuit was filed against the company that provides travel packages to the occupied territories.
