In order to unload the hospitals of OKYPY in order to be able to respond effectively and immediately to the new increased needs that have been created to address the pandemic, the following was decided:

1. Referrals of patients to private hospitals
At this stage and in view of the readiness and availability that the OKYPY hospitals must have, the private hospitals will serve:
• Emergencies through their Emergency Departments, which are transported either by ambulance or addressed by the patients themselves,
• Referrals from clinics and TAEP of OKYPY hospitals for emergencies or emergency surgeries that are not performed in OKYPY hospitals.

It is emphasized that private hospitals undertake ONLY emergencies and not cold incidents. For patients who apply to the private sector on their own and do not fall into the above categories, the Ministry of Health will not undertake any compensation.

It is also emphasized that the suspected cases of coronavirus are handled ONLY by the hospitals of OKYPY based on an existing recorded procedure, which has been notified.

2. Appointments at Outpatient Clinics of OKYPY hospitals
Patients with appointments at outpatient clinics of public hospitals that have been canceled should contact Specialist Physicians contracted with GESS or their Personal Physicians for a referral (in cases where they do not have one) or guidelines / handling. The Personal Doctors as well as the Specialist Doctors of GESS are obliged to serve these patients.

3. Scheduled surgeries in OKYPY hospitals - Emergencies
All scheduled emergency surgeries are wheeled by the treating physicians of public hospitals to the private sector.

Scheduled surgeries that have been canceled and involve emergencies or incidents that cannot be postponed, and for which patients have not been informed, should contact their treating physicians directly at the OKYPY hospital for further treatment.

In case of non-response, citizens are asked to contact the Executive Director of the hospital of their District.

4. Scheduled surgeries in OKYPY hospitals - Cold cases
For scheduled surgeries involving cold incidents and which have been canceled, patients will be informed of a new date of surgery by the OKYPY hospital, where the operation was scheduled to take place.

5. Scheduled surgeries in OKYPY hospitals - Cold cases, whose condition worsens or changes
Patients should contact their treating physicians directly at the OKYPY hospital for further treatment or contact Specialist Physicians contracted with GESS or their Personal Physicians for guidance / handling.
