The government expects a significant number of couples under the age of 45 to take advantage of the incentive plan for resettlement in occupied villages, with around 50 applications already pending.

Presidential Commissioner Fotis Fotiou told KYPE that as part of the government's policy to encourage families of couples under the age of 45 to relocate to the occupied villages where they live, the Council of Ministers yesterday approved a plan to provide incentives for resettlement in these villages. in Agia Triada, Kormakitis and Karpasia. The last two are Maronite villages.

This plan, said Mr. Fotiou, enters into force immediately, and provides for the provision of 15 thousand euros to resettled families of couples with children up to 18 years and 10 thousand euros for couples without children.

He also added that the amount of two thousand euros will be given for the purchase of home appliances and three thousand euros for professional purposes.

Mr. Fotiou stated that there is no limit to the number of couples who can apply, noting that there are already around 50 applications that are pending and which will now be considered.

"Based on what I know and the meetings I have with the community leaders of these countries, I expect that a significant number of couples will take advantage of these incentives," he noted.

He added that resettlement is particularly encouraged in the area of Karpasia, where a school operates. One of the reasons we want this plan is to strengthen the school, he added.

He said that there is no school in Kormakitis but "if there is interest and a number of children who justify the reopening of the school, we will do it".

Asked about the statement of the "foreign minister" of the pseudo-state, Kudret Ozersay, about the return of a small number of houses to Maronites in the village of Karpasia, Mr. Fotiou said that the plan approved by the Ministry has nothing to do with the plans of the occupation regime. .

"It is a plan that has been studied for a year by all the competent services and was approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers", he concluded.
