New measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic are expected to be taken by the Council of Ministers at its meeting today, following suggestions by the Minister of Health Michalis Hadjipandelas.

The measures were discussed at yesterday's meeting of the Minister of Health with the Advisory Scientific Committee for the coronavirus.

According to information from KYPE, among the measures is the extension of the closure of schools until January 10, while students and teachers will arrive on the first day in schools with a rapid test of 48 hours.

Also among the recommendations is the performance of a weekly rapid test in those vaccinated with two doses, with the exception of those who received the third dose.

At the same time, the same information states that nothing has changed in relation to the maximum number of people in terms of gatherings in houses, which is currently at 20 people. There is also a suggestion for an obligation to perform a 24-hour rapid test by vaccinated people to participate in social gatherings and a 48-hour rapid test or self-test by vaccinated people.

It was also suggested that children aged 12-15 be able to enter specific areas for which vaccination is required, only with a rapid test as they are accompanied by a parent who has completed his vaccination regimen.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers will begin at 09:30.
