A 42-year-old woman was handcuffed yesterday by the Paphos Police for investigating cases involving car theft, possession and use of a controlled class B drug, i.e. cannabis, and driving under the influence of drugs.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, on Sunday afternoon, a 42-year-old woman from a village in the Paphos District reported to the Police that her vehicle was stolen, which she parked outside her mother's house, leaving the keys behind.

Immediately, Mr. Nikolaou said, the Police were mobilized and patrols were sent to the area, which at around 18:30 spotted the vehicle being driven by a woman on Mesogis Avenue, heading towards Paphos. The vehicle was stopped and subsequent investigations revealed that the driver was a 42-year-old woman, who comes from a village in the same area as the complainant.

In the possession of the 42-year-old, said Mr. Nikolaou, a quantity of cannabis was found, while she was also positive in a drug test. Subsequently, added the Police representative, the suspect was also arrested pursuant to a warrant for the theft of the vehicle and is expected to be charged before a court.
