Welcoming on Monday night at the event to promote the use of the bicycle "I ride for Health and the Environment" by the Sports Secretariat and the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Democratic Alarm, which honored four former DISY Sports Secretaries, the Mr. Karousos said that the Action Plan for the Promotion of Bicycle Use aims to increase the multimodality of traffic and the substantial transformation of the citizen into sustainable means of transport, ie active trafficking.
"This effort aims, among other things, at improving and organizing transport in cities. "Utilizing the bicycle as a means of transportation is a practice that each of us could integrate into our daily lives," he said.
This Plan, which is part of the National Plan "Energy and Climate" and sustainable mobility, is one of the sixteen actions of the General Action Plan to Promote Bicycle Use for the period 2021-2023 total cost € 4.000.000,00 .
"Under this program, Cypriots, Europeans or third-country nationals who reside permanently in the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus and are over 18 years old, will be able to apply for a subsidy to purchase a new non-electric bicycle. The subsidy amounts to € 200 and for People with Special Needs (Disabled) to € 800, or the actual purchase price of the bicycle, whichever of the two amounts is lower ", he said.
