Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding the new measures to be taken for travelers.

In the context of the measures decided today by the Extraordinary Council of Ministers on the treatment of the coronavirus epidemic and with the aim of preserving Public Health, those who intend to travel to Cyprus are informed, with effect from Monday 16 March 2020, from 6 p.m. and then, that the entry into the Republic of Cyprus will be allowed only to those citizens who present a medical certificate of coronavirus examination from an approved accredited organization or a laboratory for Public Health issues. The medical certificate must not be older than four days.

It is reminded that the categories of citizens who can enter the country are the following:

  • Cypriot citizens,
  • legally resident in the Republic of Cyprus,
  • European nationals or third-country nationals working in the Republic,
  • nationals of countries engaged in mandated service / mission under bilateral or international conventions,
  • individual cases of European nationals or third-country nationals for unavoidable professional obligations, provided that a relevant authorization is obtained from the relevant Ministry,
  • European nationals or third-country nationals attending educational institutions in the Republic of Cyprus.

Finally, it is clarified that those who meet the criteria and will enter the country, will be transferred for precautionary reasons to specially designed isolation areas that will be indicated by the Republic of Cyprus, for a period of 14 days.
