This year's list of awards of the Queen of England includes the Greek Sergeant of the British Bases, Loukas Panagiotou, who was awarded the "Overseas Territories Police Medal".
According to a BB announcement, this important award was given to the BB Police sergeant, after 30 years of service, "For his outstanding work and dedication, including his role as a Community Sergeant in the western parts of the BB for the past 16 years."
Sergeant Panagiotou, it is added, supports charitable and community activities for children, young people and vulnerable groups, while having the title of "school governor", supports local groups of scouts and young people and works closely with organizations that help children with disabilities.
In the last decade, the announcement continues, Sergeant Panagiotou and his team have raised more than half a million euros for charity.
The announcement notes that Sergeant Panagiotou also helped organize the annual "Christodoula March" in the western parts of the BB, coordinated food aid campaigns in support of local communities, organized charity dinners in support of the disabled and the disabled. (Riding for the Disabled), raised donations and organized charity concerts for drug prevention and community support.
He praised his award, saying it meant a lot to him, and BB Police Chief Chris Eyre expressed his pride in the force member.
