The Minister of Health visited today at noon the stand of the Cyprus Youth Organization in the Mall of Cyprus, where an action was held to inform the public about the use of a mask.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, speaking from the Mall of Cyprus, where the ONEK event took place, Mr. Ioannou welcomed the initiative of the Cyprus Youth Organization to prepare and distribute masks to the citizens to raise awareness regarding the measures taken. should be taken to address the pandemic.

"As you know, the use of a mask is mandatory both indoors and outdoors and is one of the most basic weapons and tools we have to stop the spread of the virus," he added.

He reiterated that studies have shown that the use of a mask reduces deaths by up to 50% and "it is one of the most important tools at our disposal to prevent the spread of the virus, to protect ourselves, but above all "Our fellow human beings, our family, the vulnerable who we may have at home," he said.

"The message is very important, we must wear the mask, it protects and helps fight the pandemic," he said.

He thanked the Cyprus Youth Organization for its initiative to organize today's event, as well as for its other actions that contribute to informing and raising public awareness regarding the protection measures against the coronavirus.

Asked to comment on the fact that the Police continues to distribute fines to citizens who do not use a mask, Mr. Ioannou stated that he has not realized this fact, and referred to a statement by the Police, which clarifies that when a citizen is alone outdoors, will not be fined.
